Thirteen schoolchildren and a teacher were injured in a collision involving two school buses on Monday afternoon (June 9), UAE authorities confirmed. The crash occurred at approximately 3:11pm along Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road, one of the UAE’s busiest highways, according to a statement from the National Ambulance. The 13 injured students, aged between 6 and 12, were traveling home from school when the accident happened. A teacher aboard one of the buses was also hurt. Emergency response teams were dispatched immediately and arrived at the scene within 13 minutes, authorities noted. “All injured individuals were provided with the necessary medical assistance and transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment,” a spokesperson said. Authorities have not released the names of the injured or the schools involved, and the extent of the injuries remains unclear as of press time. Sharjah Police are currently investigating the cause of the collision. Motorists traveling on Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road experienced traffic delays as the incident briefly disrupted afternoon commutes. ICA/Expat Media
