Sharjah Taxi opens smart new Taxi Control Centre
The new Sharjah Taxi Control Centre was inaugurated by the Sharjah Taxi on Thursday (March 3). The centre is the newest addition to the Sharjah Asset Management Company’s innovative services for the benefit of the customers, drivers, and the entire community. The Sharjah Taxi is part of the Company, an investment arm of the Government of Sharjah. The centre's opening ceremony was attended by Waleed Al Sayegh, CEO of Sharjah Asset Management Company, Abdul Aziz Al Jarwan, Director of Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) for Transportation Affairs, Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, CEO of Osool Transportation Solutions; and Khalid Al-Kindi, Executive Director of Sharjah Taxi along with other notable attendees.
In his speech, Khalid Al-Kindi lauds the Sharjah Taxi Control Centre as the promising future of the company’s smart operational systems and modern technologies-based services.
“The new centre is launched in line with Sharjah Taxi plan, which aims to employ artificial intelligence in transportation for the convenience and safety of customers and reduce complaints, accidents, and quality violations. This, in turn, contributes to enhancing drivers’ operational performance, cutting down expenses and increasing revenues,” said Al-Kindi.
The Taxi Control Centre reflects Sharjah’s progressive digital transformation and its efforts to enhance its public services.
The centre is operated by eight employees per shift, handling nearly 750 taxi operations in Sharjah City, Sharjah International Airport, and in the Eastern Province.
It also monitors the drivers’ wrong practices, directs them to sound conduct, and ensures their commitment to the regulations with its latest technologies including a camera monitoring system, and a driver fatigue tracking system for monitoring concentration, stress, and other vital indicating levels.
Sharjah Taxi was able to transport nearly 5.87 million passengers last year with an average of 16,000 passengers per day through the customer-vehicle technology link Internal Vehicle Devices. KSO/Expat Media
