120 families left homeless by blaze that hit 23-storey building in Sharjah, victims to get temporary shelter

SHARJAH – At least 120 families were affected by a fire that broke out on Thursday at the Al Bandary Twin Towers, Sharjah officials said, adding that the victims will be given temporary accommodation. The cause of the blaze that hit the 23-storey building is still under investigation, according to fire officials. The Sharjah Civil Defense received an alert about the fire at 11:58 a.m. on Thursday and the fire was placed under control 75 minutes after. Initial results of the investigation showed that the fire started inside an apartment at the 13th floor of Tower B and spread to the upper levels. As the blaze happened, the Sharjah Civil Defense closed a section of Al Ittihand Road to motorists because of falling debris from the building. The road section was reopened Thursday afternoon.
