The Sayyida Khadija Mosque has recently opened in the Al Waha area, marking a significant addition to the emirate’s architectural and spiritual landscape. The mosque, built in the Fatimid architectural style, seamlessly integrates traditional and modern elements. Covering an area of 49,383 square meters, it accommodates up to 2,865 worshippers, including 1,400 in the main prayer hall and 140 women in a designated prayer area. Facilities include a library, a mortuary building, and water-saving ablution areas. Parking for 592 vehicles ensures accessibility, while residences for the imam and muezzin underscore the mosque’s community-centered approach.“This mosque embodies the harmony of heritage and modernity,” said Sheikh Salem bin Mohammed Al Qasimi during the inauguration on Monday (January 6) by Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah. “Its design and facilities reflect our commitment to serving the spiritual and practical needs of the community.” Sheikh Dr. Salem Al-Doubi, head of the Preaching and Fatwa Section, delivered a sermon emphasizing the societal value of mosques. “These are spaces of spiritual tranquility and unity,” he said, commending the Ruler’s efforts in fostering such environments. Adjacent to the mosque is the Al Ruwaidat Cemetery, spanning 639,931 square meters. Sheikh Sultan inspected its facilities, including condolence halls and a state-of-the-art mortuary. Separate areas for men and women ensure privacy and respect, while paved roads and designated parking simplify access for families and mourners.
