Sharjah’s now defunct Safeer Mall is set for a major comeback in 2026 under a new name—Mark & Save Mall—following an extensive Dh1 billion redevelopment project by Western International Group. The 19-year-old landmark, originally built in 2005, was handed over by the Safeer Group in January and is now undergoing a full-scale renovation. “We are rebuilding significant parts of the interior and infrastructure to meet current standards,” said Nawas Basheer KP, Director of Western International Group. “It’s not a full demolition, but a transformation.” Basheer confirmed the redevelopment includes Sharjah’s largest indoor family play area, a fully serviced gym, dining options, and a retail hypermarket. The new mall aims to provide a high-quality shopping experience with a contemporary layout. While nine shops still operate within the mall, formal notices have been issued, and temporary relocation is required to safely proceed with construction.  Western International Group said it will support tenants through the transition period to ensure legal compliance. The new Mark & Save Mall is expected to be completed within 18 months. ICA/Expat Media
