Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum arrived in India on Tuesday (April 8), marking the beginning of his first official visit to the country at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two-day visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties and deepen cooperation between the UAE and India across economic, strategic, and cultural sectors. Upon his arrival in New Delhi, Sheikh Hamdan was received by India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism, Suresh Gopi. According to the Dubai Media Office, the Crown Prince is set to hold talks with senior Indian officials to discuss enhancing the strong partnership between the two nations. As part of the official agenda, Indian Prime Minister Modi is hosting a working lunch for Sheikh Hamdan on Tuesday. The Crown Prince will also meet with India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to explore areas of strategic cooperation. On Wednesday (April 9), Sheikh Hamdan will travel to Mumbai, India’s financial capital, where he will participate in a high-level business roundtable. The event will bring together leading business figures from both countries to explore new avenues of trade and investment. The visit comes at a time of deepening bilateral relations between the UAE and India, which have been reinforced under the leadership of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Modi. In January 2024, Sheikh Mohamed was the chief guest at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, where he was received with ceremonial honors upon his arrival in Gujarat. Last September, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also conducted an official visit to India, meeting Prime Minister Modi and laying a wreath at Rajghat in tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Dubai continues to play a central role in UAE-India ties, particularly in trade, culture, and community engagement.
