Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has approved the new phase of the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, which aims to boost the digital economy and empower metaverse and future technology use. The Higher Committee of Future Technology Development and Digital Economy approved the new Dubai Metaverse Strategy's new phase at its first meeting. Sheikh Hamdan remarked that under His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, the emirate will become one of the world's top digital economies and a leading platforms for future-changing technologies. He further said, "Through this Committee, we seek to develop a new model for the development of technology and futuristic sciences with a special focus on digital technologies and the metaverse as part of our broader strategy to promote digital growth and innovation and achieve the goals of the Dubai Metaverse Strategy." He approved four effective strategies for employing metaverse technologies to provide government services and a complete study on the societal advantages of metaverse services that will be submitted to The Executive Council for approval. The programs also aim to develop talented Emiratis and construct a significant Dubai metaverse community of enterprises, startups, investors, and consumers. Strategic projects with commercial sector partners and events to make Dubai a metaverse hub are also included. Sheikh Hamdan unveiled the Dubai Metaverse Strategy last July to make the emirate one of the top 10 metaverse economies and a global metaverse hub. Dubai has attracted over 1,000 blockchain and metaverse startups, which the Strategy seeks to grow on. It also promotes Dubai's ambitions to support more than 40,000 virtual jobs by 2030. This is set to boost Dubai's economy further and support the UAE government's vision of increasing the number of blockchain companies by five times the present number. The Committee also reviewed implementing the Dubai Metaverse Strategy and the 100-day plan to coordinate government institutions and help them expand the digital economy.
