Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has praised the Dubai Civil Defence team that battled the recent Al Barsha building fire, commending their speed, professionalism, and use of cutting-edge firefighting technology. Sheikh Hamdan, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, personally met the Civil Defence team after the blaze ripped through the Saleh bin Lahej building, located just a few meters from Mall of the Emirates. The Dubai royal lauded their “exceptional skills and performance” in controlling the fire in record time using state-of-the-art equipment, including the advanced Shaheen drone, which can extinguish high-rise fires up to 200 meters tall and carries a 1,200-litre water and foam tank. “No lives were lost, and that is the true measure of success,” Sheikh Hamdan said during the meeting, stressing that their actions reinforced Dubai’s reputation as one of the safest cities in the world. Lieutenant General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Director General of Dubai Civil Defence, expressed his gratitude for Sheikh Hamdan’s unwavering support, saying it “deeply inspires all members of Dubai Civil Defence to continue their mission of protecting lives and property.” The fire broke out at around 2pm on Tuesday. The operations room received an emergency call at 2:11pm, and firefighters arrived within six minutes. Residents were swiftly evacuated before the blaze spread. Dramatic footage showed thick smoke rising from multiple floors as fire crews battled the flames with cranes and drones. No injuries were reported. ICA/Expat Media
