Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum receives the Sword of Honour. SHEIKH HAMDAN

Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s grandson has added another feather to the royal family’s cap, graduating as the best cadet from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the UK. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received the Sword of Honour for his exemplary performance. "We are immensely proud of his achievement," said Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Deputy Prime Minister, who flew to the UK to witness his nephew’s awarding ceremony. The prestigious Sword of Honour recognizes the best overall cadet across military, academic, and practical disciplines. Sheikh Mohammed is the first Emirati to achieve this dual honor. Sheikh Mohammed was awarded the Sword of Honour during the graduation ceremony for Commissioning Course 241, a recognition that cements his place among the elite graduates of the academy. The award, sponsored by the State of Kuwait in memory of Sheikh Ali Al Sabah, is presented to the cadet who demonstrates exceptional leadership, discipline, and overall excellence throughout the rigorous training program. Videos of the graduation, which Sheikh Hamdan shared on social media, show Sheikh Mohammed marching with poise to receive the sword. “We are all immensely proud of Mohammed, who was awarded the International Sword for the best international cadet; and the International Award for best overall results in military, academic, and practical studies — the first Emirati to achieve both honours simultaneously. Congratulations to him on these remarkable achievements,” Sheikh Hamdan said. Beyond celebrating Sheikh Mohammed’s personal triumph, Sheikh Hamdan took time during the event to meet with other Emirati recruits at Sandhurst. In an inspiring message, he commended their dedication and perseverance, saying, “Our youth continue to bring pride to their nation and families. May they continue to thrive and bring greater success to our homeland.” The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, widely regarded as one of the world’s premier military academies, has a storied history of training future leaders. Many members of UAE’s royal families, including Sheikh Hamdan himself, have graduated from the academy, which is renowned for its emphasis on leadership, strategy, and physical endurance.
