Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the launch of the National University of Dubai, a project with a Dh4.5 billion investment aimed at revolutionizing the country's education system. The university, which is part of Dubai’s ambitious Social Agenda 33, is set to provide world-class academic programs that will position it among the top 50 young universities globally within the next decade. In a social media post, Sheikh Mohammed shared his vision for the new institution, stating, "Today we are launching a new project to develop education in our country. Its goal is to be among the top 50 young universities over the next decade." The university will have a distinct Emirati identity, while offering internationally recognized programs that align with the developmental goals of the UAE. The National University of Dubai aims to bridge the gap between academic excellence and global competitiveness. The institution will focus on specialized and forward-looking disciplines that are expected to equip UAE's youth with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-changing world. The Dubai ruler emphasized, "The real challenge is to create generations capable of absorbing these changes and harnessing them to build a better future for our nation." This project is part of Dubai Social Agenda 33, a ten-year plan that emphasizes the importance of education in building the future of the UAE. Under the theme “Family: The Foundation of Our Nation,” the agenda focuses on improving the quality of life for Emirati families through various sectors, including housing, healthcare, and education. In addition to its academic goals, the university will play a pivotal role in the UAE’s research and innovation ecosystem. It will contribute to groundbreaking research in fields that are critical to the country's future, such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, and technology. The institution’s establishment underscores Dubai’s ongoing efforts to bolster its global standing in education. The initiative is designed to serve as a cornerstone of Dubai’s long-term educational strategy, with the aim of creating a generation of innovators who can contribute to the UAE's position on the world stage.
