The Sheikh Zayed Festival, a cornerstone of the UAE’s cultural calendar, returns to Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi on November 1, promising an exhilarating lineup of over 1,000 shows and more than 6,000 international cultural events. This year’s festival, running until February 28, 2025, aims to celebrate the UAE’s rich heritage while fostering global cultural exchange. Held under the patronage of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the festival promises an unprecedented experience. Under the theme "Hayakum" (Arabic for "Welcome"), the festival introduces a new identity with a renewed focus on inclusivity and unity. It is overseen by Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President and Chairman of the Festival’s Higher Organising Committee. One of the standout attractions this year is the monumental number of performances and events. "We’re expecting more than 30,000 exhibitors and participants, representing over 27 countries," the Festival’s Higher Organising Committee shared in a statement. Countries that have never participated before will showcase their unique cultural traditions through pavilions and exhibitions. This marks a significant milestone in the festival’s evolution, which aims to attract millions of visitors from around the world. A major highlight of the festival is the “Union Parade,” a symbolic event celebrating the unity and strength of the UAE’s people, culture, and traditions. This parade reaffirms the core values that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, established, ensuring that future generations remain connected to their heritage. “The parade is always a crowd favorite and is a touching reminder of our deep-rooted national pride,” said a representative from the organizing committee. In addition to the grand performances, the festival features a diverse range of activities. Visitors can look forward to interactive workshops, traditional Emirati experiences like falconry and camel racing, and international art displays. The festival will also feature family-friendly areas with carnival rides, food stalls, and live entertainment that cater to all ages. "There’s truly something for everyone, from heritage enthusiasts to families and international visitors," said a spokesperson from the Festival's media team. With sustainability at the heart of this year’s festival, numerous eco-friendly initiatives will be incorporated throughout the event. Organizers have ensured that all aspects of the festival align with the UAE’s vision for a sustainable future. Educational workshops will focus on environmental preservation and innovation, engaging both children and adults. ICA/Expat Media
