Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has officially designated Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s farm in Al Khawaneej, Dubai, as the nation's third union site. The announcement was made on March 4, during an iftar gathering with rulers of the emirates at the historic location. The farm holds deep historical significance, as it was the venue for early discussions among UAE leaders that ultimately led to the country's formation in 1971. The farm in Al Khawaneej is closely associated with the nation’s history. It was here in March 1971 that the late Sheikh Zayed hosted a series of meetings with his fellow rulers. These discussions laid the groundwork for the landmark agreement on the union and the UAE Constitution, which was signed four months later on what is now celebrated as Union Pledge Day. During the gathering, the UAE’s rulers reflected on key moments that shaped the nation. “Sheikh Zayed’s legacy continues to guide our country’s progress,” they said in a joint statement. The site joins Union House in Dubai and Arqoob Al Sedira in Abu Dhabi as the UAE’s officially recognized union sites.
