A collision between two vessels off the UAE coast in the Gulf of Oman was caused by a navigational misjudgment, according to the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI). The incident occurred at approximately 1:30am on Tuesday (June 17), about 24 nautical miles from the UAE coastline. It involved the oil tanker ADALYNN, flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, and the cargo vessel Front Eagle, flying the flag of Liberia. The ministry reported minor hull damage to both ships, a small oil spill, and a fire in the fuel tank of one vessel. Fortunately, no crew injuries were recorded. Authorities swiftly responded to the incident. “A safe evacuation operation was carried out for the crew of the oil tanker ADALYNN, totaling 24 individuals, who were transported safely to Khor Fakkan Port by search and rescue teams,” the ministry confirmed. A technical investigation is now underway in coordination with international maritime organizations. “We are committed to transparency and upholding the highest international maritime safety standards,” the MoEI said in a statement.
