Businessman Philip Laude, husband of popular vlogger Small Laude, has taken legal action against Mae Larra Sumicad, also known as Precious Lara Su, over allegations of an affair. Laude filed a petition for a writ of habeas data with the Pasig Regional Trial Court, citing violations of his informational privacy due to rumors and leaked conversations allegedly involving him and Sumicad. The rumors began in December 2024 when screenshots purportedly showing private messages between Laude and Sumicad circulated on social media. The posts included claims of a romantic relationship and dissatisfaction in Laude’s marriage. A writ of habeas data is a legal remedy to protect one’s right to informational privacy. Laude’s legal team argued that Sumicad’s actions jeopardize his reputation and security. On January 10, the court ruled that Laude had presented sufficient evidence to issue the writ. A summary hearing is set for January 16, with Sumicad required to respond within three days. According to court documents, Sumicad must disclose the nature of the data in her possession, the purpose of its collection, and the measures taken to ensure its confidentiality.
