Ras Al Khaimah rolled out a smart vehicle impoundment system on Monday (January 20), aimed at revolutionizing how traffic violations are managed. Announced by the Ras Al Khaimah Police, this system allows vehicle owners to retain their vehicles while ensuring they comply with impoundment regulations through electronic monitoring. “The smart impoundment system is designed to ease the burden on vehicle owners while ensuring strict adherence to traffic laws,” explained Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police. Under the new system, violators can select a suitable location to impound their vehicles, with real-time electronic supervision ensuring compliance. This innovative approach significantly reduces the pressure on impoundment yards while allowing owners to maintain their vehicles’ condition. The initiative covers all types of vehicles and addresses most traffic violations. It also enables vehicle owners to operate their cars periodically, preventing long-term damage caused by extended stationary periods.
