The Sharjah Municipality has issued a snake safety advisory advising residents not to panic if they encounter a snake. In a recent social media post, the municipality urges the public to stay calm and retreat slowly, as most snakes tend to avoid humans and will only attack if threatened. They also pointed out that snakes do not only live in wild areas but can also be found in gardens and backyards. They often hide in shaded spots like piles of leaves and thick plants. To keep residents safe, the Municipality shares these tips: - Regularly clear away debris, wood, and leaf piles - Trim shrubs and tall grass - Eliminate rodents, food scraps, and exposed garbage that may attract snakes - Seal any cracks or openings in walls and doors - Check shaded areas before approaching - Use snake traps if you live in high-risk areas In the event of a snake bite, stay calm, limit movement, and call for medical assistance immediately.
If you see a snake, do not approach it. Back away slowly and report the sighting to Sharjah Municipality by calling 993 so that trained professionals can respond to handle the situation safely. FLE/Expat Media
