Snake spotted in Dubai Mushrif Park raises alarm, municipality vows intensified pest control

DUBAI – Visitors have raised concerns about snakes in Dubai’s Mushrif Park after a slithering serpent was spotted in the popular park recently. The Dubai Municipality has vowed to intensify pest control at the park after a visitor reported spotting a snake in the area on Wednesday. The municipality said that pest control efforts will have a “special focus on combating snakes… to preserve the safety of the public”. It is not clear whether the snake spotted by a park visitor on Wednesday is venomous or not. According to the municipality, the 400-hectare Mushrif Park has a “desert character that allows for the appearance of this pest at times”. It said that pest control operations are done three times a week at the park, with specialists tracking and closing dens and openings, as well as setting up traps and repellents. The municipality urged on the public to follow safety instructions and to avoid sand dunes and bushes. ICA/Expat Media HELPLINE To report snakes and other pests to Dubai Municipality, call 800900
