Mobile radars called Al Qannas (The Sniper) have helped catch 415 motorists speeding on the Abu Dhabi-Al Ghuwaifat Road in the first quarter of 2016. The Traffic and Patrols Directorate has intensified traffic supervision in the Western Region, equipping police with mobile radars. A comprehensive traffic supervision plan is being implemented in efforts to reduce accidents on the roads. Police have divided the Abu Dhabi-Ghuwaifat Road into three sections and revised speed limits, said Abdul Rahman Al Ali, Public Relations Branch Manager at the Highways Section in the Western Region. Section one covers 176 km from the Al Dhafra Bridge diversion to the Baynunah forest. There is a speed limit of 100 km/h on this stretch, with radars set at 121 km/h. The second section covers Baynunah forest and the Barakah region. Police have set a new speed limit of 120 km/h on this stretch, with radars set at 141 km/h. The third section covers 64 km from Barakah to Al Ghuwaifat. The new speed limit on this stretch is 100 km/h, with the radar set at 121 km/h. MFD/Expat Media
