Social media influencer showcases safety in Dubai

A social media star tested the "only in Dubai" theory by leaving his phone and cash unattended in public places to see whether the items would still be there the next time he checked. To prove its safety in Dubai, 32-year-old Turkmenistani national Baymammet Sarybekov left his phone charging while he reserved a table at a famous food court. The TikTok star, BaymaBay, said he was entirely unprepared for the videos to gain so much attention. Sarybekov, who has been a resident of Dubai for four years, has remarked that he has lived in different cities around the world but has never felt as safe as he does in Dubai. "The safety in Dubai is unbelievable. People forgot their wallets, phones and valuables in public places but it is safe and untouched," said Sarybekov, a salesman in Mall of the Emirates. "I wanted to express my appreciation to the UAE by doing these videos demonstrating the sense of safety," he added. In November, Dubai's Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, shared an "Only in Dubai" social media post by a local woman who had forgotten her stroller in a parking garage overnight and discovered it in the same spot the following morning. After seeing the video, Sarybekov decided to try it for himself. In his first video, he showed how a phone plugged into a charger in a corridor in the Mall of the Emirates was left untouched. Many people on social media began asking Sarybekov to do more experiments on leaving valuables unattended. His video about reserving a table in a busy food court using his wallet immediately went viral. "Usually I go to have lunch in the food court. I put my wallet on the table and went to order a meal. I returned after 10 minutes and nobody touched the wallet," he said. Sarybekov said that he had previously resided in Russia, Kazakhstan, Morocco, and Spain but that their safety levels were nothing compared to Dubai's. "I never felt afraid or worried in Dubai and this is an outstanding feeling," he said. Sarybekov, who intends to keep his family in Dubai, has stated that a secure environment is crucial for any metropolis, hoping to entice investors and the best and brightest minds. BKM/ Expat Media
