Delightful surprises were launched to celebrate Dubai Metro's 15th anniversary! Dubai airports surprised arriving passengers with special passport stamps and Nol cards. As they arrived, passengers were welcomed with a special passport stamp reading, "Dubai Metro, 15 years on track," marking the milestone celebration. Free limited-edition nol cards featuring a special design in collaboration with LEGO Middle East were also distributed to passengers, giving them easy access to public transportation across the city. "This reflects the emirate’s commitment to developing a modern and sustainable public transport network," according to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs-Dubai on a Facebook post. 15 'Metro babies', or those born on September 9, 2009, were also awarded scholarships from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) as part of the celebration. Free, limited-edition metro-shaped ice creams, in collaboration with ice cream brand Igloo, were also given out at select metro stations in Dubai. Moreover, Emirates Post launched commemorative stamps for this occasion. These are among the initiatives to commemorate Dubai Metro's "15 years on track". More initiatives are set for the coming days, including live musical performances. Dubai Metro began its operations on September 9, 2009, and has since become Dubai's pride for its world-class public transportation services to residents and visitors.
