Speedy psychiatric exam sought for Sharjah boy's killer in Dubai

  DUBAI - The Dubai Appeal Court on Sunday (November 27) ordered to expedite the psychiatric evaluation of a Jordanian man on death row for kidnapping, raping and killing an eight-year-old boy in Dubai. The court urged a special panel of psychiatrists at Rashid Hospital to examine whether Nidal Eisa Abdullah, 49, was aware of his actions when he kidnapped, raped and killed eight-year-old Jordanian boy, Obaida Sedqi, on May 20. Presiding judge Eisa Mohammad Al Sharif said he wants the medical report on December 18. According to court records, Abdullah had lured Obaida to get into his car after seeing the boy in his father's car garage in Sharjah. He then drove to the Al Mamzar area where he raped and then killed the boy before dumping his body in a deserted area in Dubai. He was given the death sentence by the Dubai Court of First Instance in August.
