'Spoiled' chicken withdrawn from Union Coop stores in UAE   DUBAI - Supplies of Sadia's frozen chicken have been taken off shelves at Union Cooperative Society (Union Coop) stores in the UAE after complaints that they were not fit for human consumption. The supermarket chain withdrew the product on Saturday, said Suhail Al Bastaki, director of Happiness and Marketing Department. "Once we were informed about this incident , we gave immediate instructions to pull out the chicken from all of our stores not just from the affected one only," he said. He did not clarify, however, which batches of frozen chicken were suspected of spoilage or which branch was affected. He said that customers who bought Sadia frozen chicken from Union Coop stores in the last three or four days can get a refund if they return the product along with the receipt to the same store they purchased it. On Sunday, Union Coop said that Sadia frozen chicken was back on sale at its stores and that "there was no cause for the retailer to withdraw products voluntarily from its stores". The Dubai Municipality also said that the recall on Saturday was solely a decision by Union Coop following its internal procedure.
