The South Korean prosecutor told local reporters on Friday that the actor O Yeong-su from "Squid Game" has been charged with sexual misconduct. In January, the 78-year-old became the first South Korean to win a Golden Globe Award for best supporting actor in a series as a seemingly weak old man in the Netflix dystopian thriller that was a huge hit. Local news sources say the South Korean prosecution charged him without putting him in jail on Thursday for allegedly touching a woman's body inappropriately in 2017. Everything reported by local media on O "is not factually incorrect," an official from the Suwon District Prosecutor's Office told AFP without giving further details. Local news outlets said that after hearing the news, Seoul's culture ministry decided to stop airing a government ad featuring O.J. Simpson that talked about its regulatory innovation. "Squid Game," set in a dark world where outcasts are pitted against each other in deadly versions of traditional children's games, became Netflix's most popular new series launch ever, with 111 million viewers in less than four weeks after its 2021 premiere.
