Steel gas cylinders banned in Dubai community

DUBAI – Starting on December 15, the use of steel gas cylinders will be banned in Dubai’s Al Khail Gate community where a gas leak led to an explosion that killed one person and injured two others. The community management said that distributors of steel gas tanks will be prohibited from entering the premises. The management has reportedly partnered with Emirates Gas to supply “explosion proof” composite gas cylinders to residents. "These cylinders are a first in the UAE and have been approved by the Dubai Civil Defence," the management told residents in a letter. "In case you have not registered already for the LPG composite cylinders, we encourage you do to so to avoid any disruption." A blast from a gas leak in August 2016 killed a woman and injured her baby and another woman.
