Stray cat shot and tied to a pole in Dubai

A severely injured stray cat was tied to a pole and left to die in Dubai on Saturday. An animal rescuer, Dania Allen, took the injured stray cat to a vet in Jumeirah Lakes Towers after her mother found it in Nad Al Hamar. “My mom was driving and she saw a cat that was tied to a pole by its neck and was shot. We took it to the vet as soon as we could,” Allen said. The animal had to be euthanized due to severe injuries. The cat's hind legs were paralyzed, and X-rays revealed that the bullet had struck its spine. “The best thing was to put him down. I am truly and utterly heartbroken. This is a tragedy that has left me traumatized and I will not forget,” the animal rescuer said. In January and February, several dog abuse cases have been reported. Convicted animal abusers in the UAE will face up to a year in prison and a fine of Dh200,000 ($54,458). Cases of animal abuse can be reported to the police and on the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment website. BKM/ Expat Media
