Toy pony gets stamp on 'passport' at UAE airport

DUBAI - Who would have thought that a stuffed toy pony would be treated just like any other traveller at the Dubai International Airport? The toy's owner, a Grade one student in Dubai, was ecstatic after UAE immigration officers allowed her beloved toy to exit and re-enter the UAE with a stamp on its handmade "passport". Nuha Khan, 6, made her soft toy, which she named Rainbow Dash, a passport so that it could travel with her to India. Her mother said that Khan created the passport for her toy because she thought that every traveller would need a passport. She didn't want to leave Rainbow Dash behind. She made a dummy passport made out of a denim tag for the soft toy and wrote down details about its name, nationality and photo. At the immigration counter, Khan asked the immigration officer to stamp her toy's passport, said her mother, Uzma Fatima. The friendly officer immediately asked his team leader for approval and stamped the toy passport just to make Khan happy, her mother said. When the family returned to Dubai this week after their vacation in India, Khan again asked the immigration officer for a re-entry stamp on her toy's passport. The officer stamped it with a laugh, her mother said, adding that her daughter may keep the stamped passport forever.
