Super Dubai plate number sold for Dh14.7 million

  DUBAI – Super plate number V12 sparked a bidding war at a Dubai auction on Saturday (August 23), eventually going to the highest bidder for Dh14.7 million. Plate number V12 was among 90 premium plates that went under the hammer in the public auction by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) at InterContinental Hotel in Dubai Festival City. Plate number S20 was sold for Dh4.06 million while Y66 sold for Dh3.2 million. The VIP plates contained two to five digits in series H to I, K to L and N to Z. Plate numbers X505 fetched Dh570,000 at the auction, while I334 was sold for Dh266,000. Car plate number R506 went for Dh222,000. To date, the most expensive car number plate ever sold at auction in the UAE is plate D5, which Indian businessman Balwinder Sahni bought for Dh33 million in 2016. ICA/Expat Media
