Abu Dhabi authorities have shut down Saveway Supermarket in the Al Khalidiyah District (West 6) for violating food safety regulations, citing it as a “danger to public health.” The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) confirmed the closure on Saturday (February 15), as part of their ongoing inspection drive to ensure compliance with the emirate’s strict food safety laws. Authorities stated that inspections revealed multiple violations that posed significant risks to consumers. However, they did not disclose specific infractions at this time. “Ensuring food safety is a top priority,” an ADAFSA spokesperson said. “We take strict action against any establishment that fails to meet the required health standards.” This closure follows a series of crackdowns on food-related violations in Abu Dhabi. Just last month, authorities shut down Healthy Dream Food Café for repeated breaches of food safety regulations. “Repeated violations show a disregard for public health, which we cannot tolerate,” the spokesperson added. “We urge all food businesses to comply with safety regulations to protect consumers.” Regular inspections will continue across the emirate, with authorities encouraging residents to report any suspected food safety violations through official channels.
