  SOLIHULL, England – In what could only be described as an astonishing case, doctors at a government hospital in Solihull, England found a mass of 27 contacts lenses in a female patient's right eye. Yes, you read it right. 27 contact lenses. The extraordinary case was published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) early this month, according to a CNN report. The 67-year-old woman was set to undergo a routine cataract surgery on her right eye in November last year after she complained of discomfort, thinking that it was caused by dry eye or old age. The woman did not complain of any visual problem prior to the procedure, according to Rupal Morjaria, a specialist trainee in ophthalmology and author of the BMJ article about the case. Morjaria told CNN that Solihull Hospital consultant anesthesiologist Richard Crombie was beginning to numb the woman's eye for surgery when he found the first cluster of 17 contact lenses. Morjaria said: "He put a speculum into the eye to hold the eye open as he put the anesthetic in, and he noticed a blue mass under the top eyelid."
