  Ousted “Survivor: Game Changers” contestant Jeff Varner was fired by a North Carolina real estate agency that he worked for after he outed fellow contender Zeke Smith as transgender in an episode of the reality show. Varner told News and Record Greensboro that the Allen Tate Companies real estate company informed him that he was “in the middle of a news story that we don't want anything to do with." To recall, Varner revealed in an episode last week of “Survivor: Game Changers” aired by CBS that Smith is transgender, prompting other contestants and the show's host Jeff Probst to react in anger. They said it was personal and he shouldn't have said it. In that episode, Varner apologized to Smith and expressed regret over his action. Despite his apology, his fellow contestants ousted him from the show. After the episode was aired, he posted a message of apology to Smith, his family, friends and allies on Twitter. “Yep. I did that. And I offer my deepest, most heart-felt apologies to Zeke Smith, his friends and life allies, his family and to all those who my mistake hurt and offended,” Varner tweeted. “I recklessly revealed something I mistakenly believed everyone already knew. I was wrong and make no excuses for it. I own responsibility in what is the worst decision of my life.” Smith, for his part, told The Hollywood Reporter that he's had trouble forgiving Varner. Meanwhile, Varner said in an “Entertainment Tonight” interview that his termination from his job was done in an “ugly, knee-jerk reaction kind of way” because he was not given a chance to explain his side. Varner also said he was “devastated” by his firing. Varner, however, is optimistic that he would find a job in another real estate company. “I have had several reach out (and) I'm confident I'll find a better home,” he said.
