Cebu police also seized 61,252 pesos worth of shabu in multiple drug busts in the province

  CEBU CITY – A 36-year-old suspected drug dealer was shot dead by men onboard a motorcycle in Cebu, police said on Monday (August 22). The victim was identified as Francisco Cainges, alias "Nonoy". Cainges was shot dead while manning an ongoing road repair in Sitio Cang-ibang, Barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete town in southern Cebu. Based on the police report from Dalaguete police station, the unidentified assailants were on board a black RUSI motorcycle when one of the gunmen fired shots at Cainges. Cainges was on the watchlist of the Dalaguete police station and he previously surrendered to the police last month at the start of the government-led war against illegal drugs known as Oplan Tokhang. Four empty shells of caliber .45 gun were recovered from the crime scene. Cainges sustained a fatal gunshot wound on his chest which was the cause of his death. Police are looking at another angle on his killing as the victim was previously invited to the police station after he was linked in a shooting incident last June 9. Meanwhile, nine people were arrested in various towns in Cebu on Friday and Saturday following a drug bust in the province. At least 61,252 pesos worth of shabu were recovered from the suspects. In Alcoy, Roy "Bobong" Nieves was arrested on Friday after a search warrant was issued by Judge Maximo Perez of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 26 in Argao town. Police seized five grams of shabu worth 59,000 pesos, and also recovered several repacking materials and drug paraphernalia. Police officer Alejandrino Dayaganon said that Nieves had surrendered to police last July 13, however, surveillance showed that he returned to selling illegal drugs. In Talisay City, Eusobio Burgos was arrested by undercover police in Sitio Pangpang, Barangay San Isidro. At least 0.12 grams of metamphetamine (shabu) worth 1,416 pesos were taken from his possession. In Carcar City, Lloyd Alcordo was also arrested in a drug bust where police recovered three small sachets of shabu. A concerned citizen in Barangay Ocana reported of Alcordo's illegal drug business there. In Tabogon, police arrested Agribon Calompiano and Janico Monterola and recovered two small sachets of shabu worth 600 pesos from the suspects. In Santa Fe town, Bantayan Island, Kenny Ong was arrested after he tried to sell drugs to an undercover policeman. Vicente Zaspa Jr. was also arrested after he tried to fled from the arresting policemen. At least five small sachets of shabu were recovered from their pockets. In Ronda, Noel Abestano was arrested in a buy bust operation. Police seized one sachet of shabu, 200 pesos and drug paraphernalia in his possession. In Balamban, Rolyn Gamaso, a native of Barangay Gaas was arrested in a buy bust operation. Police recovered from Gamaso a small sachet of shabu that weighed 0.2 grams  valued at 236.00 pesos and 200 pesos in cash.
