Suspension for reckless taxi drivers in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI – Taxi drivers in Abu Dhabi are now under close watch and will face a three-month suspension if they are caught speeding or driving recklessly. There are 10,000 taxi drivers in the capital. Mohammad Al Qamzi, general manager of the Centre of Regulation for Transport By Hire Cars (TransAD), said there is a "rigorous tracking system for all taxis". Al Qamzi said that a thorough investigation is launched against every driver who receives a complaint or is involved in an accident. He said that taxi drivers can be given up to 12 black points for speeding or reckless driving. The moment taxi drivers accumulate 24 black points, the driver is taken off the roads and has to undergo three months’ training, he said. Al Qamzi said that TransAD is working on a system "that will soon ensure better complaint resolution". The system requires investigators to call up every customer who has made a complaint before corrective action is taken. TransAD is also putting in place security measures, such as including in-car cameras and a rigorous tracking system for all taxis.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
