A 44-year-old Syrian expatriate died after falling from a high-rise building in Sharjah’s Al Taawun area, with police ruling out foul play and confirming the case as suicide following a thorough investigation. Sharjah Police, in a statement released on Thursday (February 13), confirmed the identity of the deceased as M.A. and stated that the incident occurred at approximately 11pm on January 31. “The investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Al Buhaira Police Station concluded that the fall was a deliberate act and that there was no evidence suggesting external involvement,” according to Sharjah Police. The tragic incident was first reported by a grocery store employee in the area, who immediately contacted emergency services after witnessing the victim lying motionless on the pavement. Emergency responders, including police officers, CID personnel, and a national ambulance team, arrived at the scene within minutes. They found the victim lying in a pool of blood, with visible trauma consistent with a high fall. According to police, M.A. fell from the 14th floor of the residential tower. His body was transported to a nearby hospital by 11:30pm, before being transferred to the forensic laboratory for further examination. The autopsy report revealed that the man sustained severe skull damage, extensive internal bleeding in the lungs, and multiple fractures across his body. These injuries were consistent with the impact of a fall from a significant height. Police investigators also interviewed several of the victim’s friends and acquaintances to understand the circumstances leading up to his death. Preliminary findings suggest that the deceased may have been struggling with personal and emotional difficulties prior to the incident. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal procedures.
