At the scene of the accident on a highway in Abu Dhabi. ABU DHABI POLICE
A motorist driving a sedan caused a major accident on a busy highway in Abu Dhabi after tailgating and then crashing into a hatchback. In a traffic video footage released by Abu Dhabi Police on Friday (May 5), the red sedan is seen moving very closely behind the hatchback before swerving to the emergency lane to overtake the car. This caused the sedan to crash into the hatchback, causing both vehicles to lose control and crash on the road barrier on the right side of the highway. Luckily, incoming vehicles were able to stop in time to avoid multiple collisions. According to Abu Dhabi Police, the driver of the sedan faces multiple traffic violations, including not leaving a safe distance, which will result in a fine and impoundment of the car for up to three months. The fine to release the vehicle is Dh5,000. Drivers who are found not giving way to other motorists on the fast lane will be fined Dh400 under the UAE traffic law.
