Taking the JLT-Ibn Battuta Dubai Metro route? Some bad news

DUBAI – Starting on January 5, Dubai Metro services between Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) and Ibn Battuta station will be suspended to make way for Route 2020 construction work, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Sunday. The service suspension will be in place until mid 2019 and will also affect an attached multi-storey car park, according to the RTA. Construction work on the 15km-long Route 2020 began late last year. When completed, the route will provide a link to the Expo 2020 site from the Red Line, passing through Nakheel Harbour and Towers station. The RTA said that a free express bus service will be provided to passengers in the affected sector. Passengers heading to the UAE Exchange Station are required to alight at JLT Station, board a shuttle bus to the Ibn Battuta Station and then continue their journey via Dubai Metro to the UAE Exchange Station. Passengers heading to Rashidiya Station must alight at Ibn Battuta Station, take the shuttle bus to JLT Station and then take the next available train.
