So what's the truth about juice drink Tang? UAE authorities debunk rumour about juice drink Tang

DUBAI – Reports have circulated on social media spreading fear about the consumption of Tang, a powdered juice drink that is sold in the UAE. The reports were fueled by a product warning on Tang juices that said the drink is not suitable for pregnant and lactating women, and children under the age of three. UAE authorities debunked the reports recently, pointing out that  "there is no harm for consumers in taking the product regularly". The Dubai Municipality’s Food Safety Department said that Tang complied with regulations by putting warning labels on its products, and that the advisory was targeted at consumers with immunocompromised status who might consume the product in large quantities. “The legislation stipulates the need to place a warning status in order to protect people who have such allergy. The municipality would like to note that the artificial sweetener is not found in all Tang products,” the Dubai Municipality stated. The Dubai Municipality was referring to Aspartame, an artificial sweetener that has been linked to increased risk of cancer. The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority also echoed the same sentiment, assuring consumers that the precaution is directed only for consumers that may have an allergic reaction the amino acid “Phenylalanine”.
