Two arrested for robbing taxi drivers in Sharjah while pretending to be commuters at night

  SHARJAH – Two men who allegedly robbed taxi drivers in Sharjah have been arrested, Sharjah Police said on Saturday. Police said the suspects flagged down taxis at night, asking the unsuspecting drivers to drop them off at different destinations. To carry out the robbery, one of the suspects would sit in the font seat while the other would take the back seat. On the way to their destination, the suspects would then attack the taxi driver and take his wallet and money. The Arab duo reportedly stole up to Dh1,000 from each taxi driver using the same tactic. Investigators initially tracked down the first suspect who was living illegally in the UAE. Police arrested the suspect, who led them to the second suspect who was staying in the UAE on a visit visa. The case has been referred to the public prosecution.
