When Taylor Swift says yes, the internet doesn’t just swoon — it shops. Following her engagement announcement with NFL star Travis Kelce, searches for “A-line dress” tripled overnight, while “striped dress” queries spiked by 180 percent, according to Google Trends data analysed by stylist Constance Rose. Swift’s viral black-and-white striped A-line dress has now set the tone for summer 2025, with experts predicting the revival of one of fashion’s most enduring prints: pinstripes. “Taylor has a way of turning timeless staples into modern must-haves,” said Constance Richardson, personal stylist at By Constance Rose. “Her engagement look shows how pinstripes can shift from corporate tailoring into soft, romantic daywear. It’s wearable, flattering, and instantly aspirational.” Meanwhile, Kelce’s understated look — a sleek dark shirt paired with neutral trousers — has also drawn praise. “Travis’s styling reflects the rise of minimalist menswear: clean lines, textured fabrics, and neutral tones that feel confident without trying too hard. This moment could accelerate wider adoption of the look,” Richardson added. Here's the retail ripple effect: • “A-line dress” searches: +300 percent overnight • “Striped dress” searches: +180 percent in 48 hours • “Pinstripe” interest: highest since 2019 Richardson says high street and luxury retailers alike should move quickly. “Expect to see stripes everywhere from Zara to Reformation this summer. For menswear, detail-driven tailoring and lightweight shirts will define the season.” Looks like Swift and Kelce may have just written the first chapter of 2025’s fashion story. PIA/Expat Media
