Teen bullied at Dubai school calls police, suicide bid thwarted

  DUBAI – An Arab teen who called the Dubai Police to say she will attempt suicide after being bullied by classmates is now undergoing counselling, an official said. The distressed 15-year-old student had called the hotline 116111 for children safety and protection. Roudha Al Razouqi, a social expert at the Women and Children Rights Protection at Dubai Police, said the police went to the female teenager’s school before she could strangle herself. “We stopped her and counselled her. She confessed that she attempted to commit suicide earlier because she was bullied by others,” Al Razouqi said. The official said that the teenager had also refused to eat. Officers met her parents and urged them to take her to the Rashid Hospital for specialized treatment.
