Teen drowns, boy saved in Ras Al Khaimah beach

DUBAI - A teenage boy drowned while another boy was rescued at a beach in Ras Al Khaimah where waves reached a high of 2.5 metres, the police said. Yemeni national Saleh Al Yafei, 14, died after he was carried away by strong currents and waves at a beach in Al Dahan. Forecasters had warned of big waves in the area last weekend. Yafei was swimming with another boy, 12, during the incident. A family who saw the boys struggling in the water alerted the police for help. Police were able to save the 12-year-old boy. Paramedics, however, could not resuscitate Saleh, who was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The case has been referred to prosecutors to complete legal proceedings. Meanwhile, Brigadier General Mohammed Al Humaidi, Director General of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, reminded families to be mindful of their children when on the beach. GAD/Expat 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
