Three individuals, including two Emiratis and a European woman, were airlifted to hospitals in separate motorbike accidents in Sharjah, according to the Ministry of Interior (MOI). The incidents happened on Monday (February 10). The Air Wing unit swiftly responded to emergency calls, ensuring the victims received urgent medical attention within 24 hours. In the first incident, a 31-year-old European woman sustained critical injuries after a motorbike accident in the Al Badayer desert area. Authorities dispatched an air ambulance to transport her to Al Dhaid Hospital, where she received immediate treatment. The second accident involved a 28-year-old Emirati man who was riding his motorbike in the Al Rafada area when he crashed. Following a report from Sharjah Police, he was transferred via air ambulance to Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah for specialized care. The third case involved a 21-year-old Emirati motorcyclist, whose bike overturned during the night. The Air Wing unit was again called into action, transferring him to Al Dhaid Hospital. The Ministry of Interior emphasized the importance of road safety, particularly in desert areas and off-road terrains, where accidents involving motorcyclists and off-road vehicles have been increasingly reported. Authorities have urged riders to wear protective gear, adhere to speed limits, and avoid dangerous stunts that could lead to serious injuries. “We continuously work on raising awareness about the importance of safe riding practices. Accidents like these highlight the critical role of protective gear and responsible driving, especially in high-risk areas,” the MOI said in a statement. In response to the accidents, Sharjah Police have increased patrols in Al Badayer and Al Rafada, areas popular among adventure seekers and off-road bikers. Officials have also announced plans to introduce more safety measures, including dedicated emergency response units and enhanced signage to guide riders safely through difficult terrains.
