Three new monkeypox cases detected in UAE

Three new monkeypox cases have been detected in the UAE, according to the Ministry of Health and Prevention. In an announcement on Sunday (July 24), the ministry reassured that health authorities are taking all necessary measures, including investigation, examination of contacts, and monitoring of the health of the infected trio and their contacts. The health ministry also urged to public to follow appropriate preventive and safety measures and precautions while travelling and moving in large crowds. Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has said the spread of monkeypox across dozens of nations is an evolving health threat, but does not represent a global health emergency at this time. WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged governments around the world to step up surveillance, contact tracing, testing and to make sure that people at high risk have access to vaccines and antiviral treatments. At least 3,000 monkeypox cases across more than 50 countries have been identified since early May, according to WHO. ICA/Expat Media
