Toni Gonzaga steps down as Pinoy Big Brother host

  MANILA – Actress-TV host Toni Gonzaga confirmed she is stepping down as host of reality TV show Pinoy Big Brother (PBB). On Wednesday (February 9), Gonzaga posted on Instagram that it has been her “greatest honor” to host the reality show in the last 16 years. Gonzaga is one of the original hosts of the show, which first aired in August 2005. She hosted alongside Willie Revillame and Mariel Rodriguez. Following her departure from PBB, Gonzaga said she is endorsing her friend and actress Bianca Gonzalez for the role. “Today, I'm stepping down as your main host. I know Bianca and the rest of the hosts will continue the PBB legacy,” Gonzaga said. “It has been my privilege to greet you all with 'Hello Philippines and 'Hello World' for the last 16 years. I will forever cherish the memories, big nights, and moments in my heart. Thank you Kuya for everything,” she added. Gonzaga’s departure from the show comes a day after she appeared at the February 8 proclamation rally of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos and vice-presidential aspirant Sara Duterte at the Philippine Arena. She drew criticism for her presence at the rally, where she said in Filipino that there was overwhelming love for the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos. Gonzaga also introduced Representative Rodante Marcoleta as part of the UniTeam’s senatorial slate. Marcoleta was one of the congressmen who voted to deny the franchise renewal of TV network ABS-CBN where Gonzaga is a talent. CAM/Expat Media
