Forbes Middle East reveals 2017 Top Indian Business Leaders of the Arab World

  DUBAI – Indian magnate Yousuf Ali M.A and PepsiCo chief officer Sanjeev Chadha have been named as top business owner and executive, respectively, by Forbes Middle East. The magazine revealed the 2017 Top Indian Business Leaders of the Arab World in a ceremony last Wednesday night that was attended by Vipul, India's consul general in Dubai. Yousuf Ali is managing director of the Lulu Group International while Chadha is chief executive officer of PepsiCo International. Consul General Vipul acknowledged the contribution of Indian expatriates to the economies of host countries like the UAE. "Indians make up the largest expat community in the GCC region, with over seven million Indians residing and contributing to the economies of the host countries, not only as big business conglomerates but also as professionals, construction workers and in government departments," he said. The Forbes Middle East list is composed of 100 business owners and 50 executives. Twenty-eight next generation business leaders who will take their respective family's legacy forward were also recognized. The companies of the top 100 Indian business owners represent different sectors like retail, construction and real estate. Twenty-seven business owners originally come from Kerala while others come from Sindhi and Gujarat. Yousuf Ali led the Indian business owners list followed by Sunil Vaswani, chairman of Stallion Group and by Dr B.R. Shetty, founder of NMC Healthcare and the UAE Exchange. Chadha ranked first in the executive category. Raghavan Seetharaman, group chief executive officer of Doha Bank and Adnan Chilwan, group chief executive officer of Dubai Islamic Bank, were second and third, respectively.
