Affected unit owners still houses in nearby hotels, according to Torch management

  DUBAI – Residents of the gutted Torch Tower were allowed on Saturday to get their valuables and important items left behind in their apartment units after fire hit the 86-storey skyscraper past midnight on Friday. The residents displaced by the fire will still stay in nearby hotels until further notice, according to Anel Carline, head of compliance and communication of the Kingfield Owners Association management services, which manages Torch Tower. This, as investigators from the Forensic Department are looking into the cause of the blaze that razed 38 apartments of the building's 676 residential units and affected 64 floors. Fire investigators are collecting burnt pieces from the building and once the process is done, Carline said residents will be allowed to return to their units. Carline however said she has no update yet as to when can the residents move back into their apartments. In the meantime, Torch Tower residents can collect their valuables and important items from their apartments under the supervision of Dubai Police. The management advised the residents to register with the Dubai Police on arrival at The Torch in order to gain access to their apartments to get valuables or belongings.
