Third fire breaks out in Torch Tower in Dubai Marina

DUBAI – Residents of Torch Tower in Dubai Marina were allowed to return to their apartments early on Sunday after the building was evacuated due to another fire. A minor fire was reported in a gym sauna on the fifth floor of the building on Saturday night. Occupants were immediately evacuated by authorities. Residents were allowed to return back in the building in the early hours of Sunday after authorities checked that it was safe to do so. “All over. Families with kids being let back in now, rest to follow in an orderly manner,” resident Firas Wahida posted on Twitter. Other residents also took to social media to praise the quick action of the Dubai Civil Defence, and also to point out the recurring fire in the building. “Can’t believe my old home is on fire yet again #TorchTower #Dubai #Marina,” a Twitter user said. In August, 2017, a huge fire damaged 38 floors of the building, leaving nearly 500 people temporarily homeless. In February, 2015, another fire broke out on the 51st floor of the building.
