Tracking water and electricity consumption in Dubai now made easy

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) introduced a digital self-assessment tool for the residents to easily track their water and electricity consumption patterns. The Self-Assessment tool would collect and identify the water and electricity consumption patterns of the customers through a survey. After the assessment, a detailed report will be given about their consumption including customized tips for conservation and waste reduction. The tool is part of the authority’s Smart Living initiative that aims for a sustainable Smart Dubai, increased efficiency of electricity and water consumption, and leakage detection and repair without the need to contact DEWA. Aside from the assessment tool, the Smart Living initiative also offers smart electricity and water meters with a private dashboard feature for customers to check their daily, monthly, and annual consumption reports, and a High-Water Usage Alert for detecting possible water connection leakages. DEWA conservation and awareness campaign report saving up to 2.2TWh of electricity and 5.6 billion gallons of water between 2012 and 2021 and reducing around 1.1 million tonnes of carbon emissions.
