Work on Al Wasl road, bridges set to commence; rerouting to last until July next year

  DUBAI – Traffic on Sheik Zayed Road will be diverted to other routes starting Friday as the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) announced the start of work on Al Wasl road and its bridges. The RTA said the diversions will start between Interchanges 2 and 3. The agency also said diversions will affect Umm Al Sheef, Latifa bint Hamdan and Al Zomorrud streets and rerouting will last until July 2018. RTA director of roads Nabeel Mohammed Saleh advised motorists to use temporary roundabouts in entering and exiting Sheikh Zayed Road. An alternative route identified by RTA for motorists going to First Al Khail street is to drive west, turn left to Al Jarena street and into street 3A. A U-turn will replace the existing roundabout on Al-Zomorrud street, the RTA added.
