The Ministry of Interior announced on Monday (October 7) new initiatives to make services in the vehicle and driver licensing sector simpler, as part of its zero government bureaucracy program. Key updates include removing bank liens on vehicles, allowing the replacement of foreign driving licences, and issuing clearance certificates for traffic violations. In a video posted on the X, officials explained that drivers who want to replace a foreign driving licence can easily upload a translated copy through certified legal translation offices. This will trigger a notification with a link to obtain the new licence. Also, it will be easier to update vehicle ownership cards once the bank lifts the lien, with timely notifications and service links provided to users. Motorists can now also receive clearance certificates for traffic violations digitally. After paying their fines, they will be issued the certificates. According to the ministry, these updates are expected to greatly reduce processing times, improve user experience, and lower operational costs. The initiative aligns with the UAE government's 'Zero Government Bureaucracy' program, introduced in 2023, to simplify and enhance government procedures. FLE/Expat Media
