The distance between Sohar and Abu Dhabi is expected to be covered by a passenger train in just 100 minutes, traveling at speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour. According to Oman News Agency (ONA), Oman Rail and Etihad Rail are establishing joint companies with investments totaling approximately OMR 1,160,000,000 to develop and run a railway network linking Sohar Port with the UAE national railway network. The 303-kilometer-long railway network route between Sohar and Abu Dhabi will adopt the highest international safety and environmental standards to provide safe and fast passenger and freight transport services. The passenger train can achieve up to 200 kilometers per hour and travels 100 minutes between Sohar and Abu Dhabi, and 47 minutes between Sohar and Al Ain, while the freight train can reach speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour.
